For the Wind Advisory,south winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.* WHERE...Barton, Ellsworth, Lincoln, Russell, and Saline Counties.* WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT this evening.* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs couldbe blown down and a few power outages may result.Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stayindoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop invisibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowingsand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as faras possible and put your vehicle in park. Special Weather Statement issued June 17 at 5:35PM CDT by NWS Wichita KSWind gusts around 40 to 55 mph are promoting localized areas ofblowing dust, particularly in the vicinity of recently plowedfields. Reduced visibility along Interstate 70 has already causedaccidents along the interstate, and traffic cameras show localizedareas of significantly reduced visibility between Russell and Hays.If traveling in the area this afternoon and evening, it isimperative to exercise extra caution in areas of reduced visibility.Locations impacted include...Salina, Great Bend, Russell, Ellsworth, Hoisington, Ellinwood,Wilson, Claflin, Kanopolis, Lincoln, Holyrood, Assaria, Gypsum,Lucas, Gorham, Sylvan Grove, Geneseo, Brookville, Pawnee Rock, andSmolan.This includes the following highways...Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 78 and 95.Interstate 70 between Mile Markers 176 and 266.
