Air Quality Alert issued June 13 at 2:13PM CDT by NWS Norman OKThe following statement was issued by the Oklahoma Department ofEnvironmental Quality.An Air Quality Alert for Ozone has been issued for Friday for theOklahoma City Metropolitan area due to expected high concentrationsof ozone.Persons with existing heart or respiratory ailments should reducephysical exertion and outdoor activity.The general public is encouraged to help alleviate the problem byreducing vehicle miles traveled by riding the bus...carpooling...oravoiding unnecessary trips. The public is also asked to avoidrefueling during the morning and early afternoon hours...and toavoid the use of two cycle engines such as lawn mowers...motorcycles...weed trimmers...and outboard engines.
