wind warning in effectStrong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.An intense low pressure system (the remnants of Typhoon Pulasan) will bring strong winds to the BC Coast late this afternoon and tonight.Maximum winds: 90 km/h gusting to 120 km/h.Where: Exposed coastal sections of North Vancouver Island, the Central Coast and Haida Gwaii.When: Now through tonight.Remarks: A deep low pressure system over offshore waters will move across southern Haida Gwaii this evening and onto the northern mainland coast overnight. Very strong, gusty southeasterly winds have developed ahead of the low affected areas from northern Vancouver Island to Haida Gwaii, including the Central Coast. To the south of the low, from about midnight to early Friday, there will also be a period of intense westerly winds. Winds will diminish on Friday morning as the low moves away from the region.###Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events.
