Youngchildren and pets should never be left unattended in vehiclesunder any circumstances.Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Whenpossible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning orevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing whenpossible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the OccupationalSafety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequentrest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. The air qualityalert is in effect tomorrow.In areas directly impacted by high levels of windblown dust, limityour exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed andavoiding vigorous physical activity. Run your air conditioner or anair purifier. If temperatures allow, avoid using whole house fans orswamp coolers that bring in outside air.Exposure to high particle pollution levels can cause serious healthproblems, including asthma attacks, heart and lung disease symptoms,and increased risk of respiratory infections. People with heart orlung diseases should follow their doctor's advice for dealing withepisodes of unhealthy air quality.
