Flood Watch issued June 21 at 2:17AM CDT until June 22 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IAAn increasing risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding isanticipated over far northern Iowa this morning and then later thisevening and overnight.Showers and storms early this morning have trended farther southwith an increased likelihood of heavy rain in portions of northernIowa through the morning hours. Rain may continue to linger into thedaylight hours, but will be generally scattered in nature withadditional widespread heavy rain arriving later this evening untilaround dawn Saturday morning. Some uncertainty remains as to theexact axis of heaviest rainfall, but current indications are thatthe heaviest rainfall will be near the Iowa Minnesota border. In northwest Iowa, Emmetand Palo Alto.* WHEN...From this morning through Saturday afternoon.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occurin poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may beflooded.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected with locallyhigher amounts possible. Rapid rises in creeks, streams andurban flooding will be possible. Field flooding and washedout county roads will also be possible. Rainfall rates mayapproach 2 inches per hour in the heavier storms.
