Flood Watch issued May 21 at 11:32AM CDT until May 21 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...Much of central Iowa.* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Rainfall of 3 to 5 inches with isolated higher amounts fellover parts of central Iowa last night into this morning andled to flash flooding in some areas. Additional round ofstorms is expected this afternoon that may cause new flashflooding or prolong or renew flash flooding in areas thatexperienced flash flooding earlier.You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take actionshould Flash Flood Warnings be issued.For the latest river and stream observations and forecasts refer toweather.gov/desmoines/water.

Flood Warning issued May 21 at 2:15PM CDT until May 21 at 6:45PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.* WHERE...A portion of north central Iowa, including the followingcounties, Hancock, Kossuth and Winnebago.* WHEN...Until 645 PM CDT.* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. It will takeseveral hours for all the water from these storms to work throughlocal drainage systems in urban areas.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 212 PM CDT, Emergency management reported ongoing floodingacross the warned area. Between 5 and 7 inches of rain havefallen. Emergency management also reports several roadsclosed due to flooding in the warned area including local,county and state roads. Kossuth County reports thatapproximately 20 secondary roads are closed due to water overthe road. Flooding of homes and other buildings has beenreported in a few locations as well across the warned area.- Additional rainfall from showers and thunderstorms thisafternoon may lead to renewed or additional flooding.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Algona, Forest City, Britt, Union Slogh, Eagle Lake, WestBend, Burt, Whittemore, Titonka, Wesley, Leland, CrystalLake, Woden, Duncan, Miller, Hayfield, St. Benedict,Irvington, Sexton and Hutchins.Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
