Youngchildren and pets should never be left unattended in vehiclesunder any circumstances.Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Whenpossible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning orevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing whenpossible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the OccupationalSafety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequentrest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Air Quality Alert issued June 19 at 3:39AM EDT by NWS Grand Rapids MIThe Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE)has declared an Air Quality Advisory for June 19th 2024 for elevatedlevels of ozone in the portions of southwest and west Michigan.Pollutants within those areas are expected to be in the Unhealthy forSensitive Groups (USG, Orange AQI) range.The Air Quality Advisory is in effect for the following Michigancounties:In West Michigan:Allegan, Berrien, Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, Van BurenClouds start to erode in the early afternoon hours on Wednesday nearthe Lake Michigan shoreline, which will give way to USG-level Ozoneconcentrations for southwest and west Michigan counties.It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdooractivities, especially those with respiratory diseases such asasthma.People and businesses are urged to avoid activities which can lead toozone formation.
