Heat Advisory issued June 14 at 4:48AM MDT until June 15 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM* WHAT...Very hot conditions, with high temperatures from 103 to 107this afternoon.* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest New Mexico andsouthwest Texas.* WHEN...Until 6 AM MDT Saturday.* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly duringextreme heat events.Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out ofthe sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loosefitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morningor evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion andheat stroke.To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety andHealth Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks inshaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heatshould be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is anemergency! Call 9 1 1.

These winds will combine with veryhot and dry conditions resulting in an increase in fire dangeracross the Gila region in Southwest New Mexico.* WIND...Southwest 15-20 mph with gusts to 35 mph.* HUMIDITY...6 to 9 percent lowlands and 8 to 11 percentmountains.* EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...4 to 5 Near Critical to Critical* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.Outdoor burning is not recommended.A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now, or will shortly.
