Tropical Storm Warning issued September 26 at 11:09PM EDT by NWS Columbia SC* LOCATIONS AFFECTED- Bishopville* WIND- LATEST LOCAL FORECAST: Tropical storm force wind gusts expected- Peak Wind Forecast: 20-30 mph with gusts to 45 mph- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECASTUNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Potential for wind 39to 57 mph- The wind threat has remained nearly steady from theprevious assessment.- PLAN: Plan for hazardous wind of equivalent tropical stormforce.- PREPARE: Remaining efforts to protect property should becompleted as soon as possible. Prepare for limited winddamage.- ACT: Move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Limited- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchoredmobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped oruprooted, but with greater numbers in places where treesare shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blownover.- A few roads impassable from debris, particularly withinurban or heavily wooded places. Evacuations and rescuesare possible.- PREPARE: Consider protective actions if you are in an areavulnerable to flooding.- ACT: Heed any flood watches and warnings. Failure to takeaction may result in serious injury or loss of life.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Significant- Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt several evacuationsand rescues.- Rivers and tributaries may quickly become swollen withswifter currents and overspill their banks in a few places,especially in usually vulnerable spots. Small streams,creeks, canals, arroyos, and ditches overflow.- Flood waters can enter some structures or weakenfoundations. If a tornadowarning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Extensive- The occurrence of numerous tornadoes can greatly hinder theexecution of emergency plans during tropical events.- Many places may experience tornado damage with a few spotsof immense destruction, power loss, and communicationsfailures.- Locations could realize roof and wall failures of sturdybuildings with some being leveled, structures upon weakfoundations blown away, mobile homes obliterated, largetrees twisted and snapped with forested trees uprooted,vehicles lifted off the ground and thrown, and small boatsdestroyed.
