Flood Watch issued September 26 at 10:27PM EDT until September 27 at 2:00PM EDT by NWS Columbia SC* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...Portions of east central Georgia, including the followingareas, Burke, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie and Richmond and centralSouth Carolina, including the following areas, Aiken, Bamberg,Barnwell, Calhoun, Central Orangeburg, Chesterfield, Edgefield,Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, NorthernLancaster, Northwestern Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and SouthernLancaster.* WHEN...Through Friday afternoon.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occurin poor drainage and urban areas.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Additional rainfall amounts associated with Hurricane Heleneacross the Central Savannah River Area are expected to rangefrom 2 to 4 inches. Tropical Storm Warning issued September 27 at 5:06AM EDT by NWS Columbia SC* LOCATIONS AFFECTED- St. Matthews* WIND- LATEST LOCAL FORECAST: Tropical storm force wind gusts expected- Peak Wind Forecast: 25-35 mph with gusts to 55 mph- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECASTUNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Potential for wind 39to 57 mph- The wind threat has remained nearly steady from theprevious assessment.- PLAN: Plan for hazardous wind of equivalent tropical stormforce.- PREPARE: Remaining efforts to protect property should becompleted as soon as possible. Prepare for limited winddamage.- ACT: Move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Limited- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchoredmobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped oruprooted, but with greater numbers in places where treesare shallow rooted.
