Deep surface lowover eastern Colorado will extend a strong pressure gradientsouthward into New Mexico and west Texas, leading to strong windsarea wide during the daytime hours today. West-southwest windswith sustained speeds of 30 to 40 mph and peak gusts around 55 mphcombined with very low relative humidity values will lead tocritical fire weather conditions and the risk of rapid fire startand spread. Fuel moisture had dried rapidly this month, especiallyalong the desert lowlands, due to preexisting drought status andlack of recent precipitation. Winds subsiding overnight intoFriday morning, picking back up again Friday and Saturdayafternoons.
