Flood Warning issued May 2 at 3:12PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Texas...Navasota River near Normangee affecting Grimes, Madison andBrazos Counties.For the Navasota River...including Normangee...Major flooding isforecast.* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.This approaches the flood of record.* WHERE...Navasota River near Normangee.* WHEN...Until further notice.* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Major lowland flooding begins with massiveinundation of the flood plain as the river is close to 2 mileswide and OSR become inundated one half mile on the right bank and1.5 miles on the left bank.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 3:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 16.5 feet.- Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet.- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hoursending at 3:00 PM CDT Thursday was 16.5 feet.- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.3feet Saturday afternoon.- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of22.7 feet on 05/01/2009.- http://www.weather.gov/safety/floodTurn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
