Fire Weather Watch issued April 24 at 1:41PM MDT until April 27 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM...CRITICAL TO EXTREME FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ON THURSDAY......CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ON SATURDAY....Deep southwest flow will increase on Thursday with the passageof an upper level jet streak. Deep surface low over easternColorado will extend a strong pressure gradient southward into NewMexico and west Texas, leading to strong winds area wide Thursdayafternoon. West-southwest winds with sustained speeds of 30 to 40mph and peak gusts around 55 mph combined with very low relativehumidity values will lead to critical fire weather conditions andthe risk of rapid fire start and spread through much of thedaytime hours Thursday. Fuel moisture had dried rapidly thismonth, especially along the desert lowlands, due to preexistingdrought status and lack of recent precipitation. Winds subsidingovernight into Friday morning, likely picking back up again Fridayand Saturday afternoons.
