yellow watch - severe thunderstorm - in effect A frontal system approaching southern Manitoba is ushering in a moist, unstable airmass favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms. These thunderstorms will have the capability of producing all modes of severe weather including: Large damaging hail, strong wind gusts, heavy rainfall and tornadoes. Storms are expected to form late this afternoon or by the early evening hours (5-7 pm local time) and move east / southeast through the watch area. ### Driving conditions may be difficult. Significant damage to property, buildings and trees is possible. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected], call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #MBStorm. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Don't drive through flooded roadways. Secure loose objects.
