Locations include, but are not limited to Ouray,Telluride, Silverton, Lake City, Creede, Rico, and Dolores.WHEN...900 AM Thursday May 23 to 900 AM Friday May 24IMPACTS...The Spruce Creek Wildfire is burning in the San JuanNational Forest, approximately 11 miles northeast of Dolores,Colorado. Areas of heavy smoke are present in many areas onThursday morning, especially along State Highway 145 south of Ricoto Dolores. This smoke is expected to lift throughout the day onThursday as daytime mixing of the atmosphere deepens and windsincrease. Winds out of the west or southwest will transport smoketo areas to the east or northeast of the fire on Thursdayafternoon, possibly creating impacts in those areas, includingTelluride, Ouray, Silverton, Lake City, and Creede. The greatestimpacts from smoke are expected overnight Thursday night and earlyFriday morning as smoke settles throughout the advisory area,especially in lower terrain and sheltered mountain valleys.HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke isthick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remainindoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Considerlimiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and ismaking you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke inyour neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
