Hydrologic Outlook issued May 7 at 4:20AM MDT by NWS Great Falls MTESFTFXA moisture rich spring weather system will bring prolonged periodsof lower elevation rain and mountain snow to much of Central andNorth-central Montana through early Thursday. NBM probabilisticguidance supports widespread rainfall amounts in the 1 to 3 inchrange over much of Central/North-central Montana, with the highestamounts occurring along and southeast of a Havre to Great Falls line.While impactful flooding is generally not expected, some rivers,creeks,and streams along the Canadian border in Hill and BlaineCounties are expected to approach or reach action stage Wednesdayand Thursday, mainly impacting unpopulated rural locations.Additionally, any low lying area that receives heavier rainfall willbe susceptible to ground saturation and ponding of water. Anyonenear waterways should remain alert for changing conditions and beprepared to seek higher ground should water rises occur. Travelersshould anticipate wet roads and the potential for hydroplaning dueto ponding of water on area roadways.
