Red Flag Warning issued May 5 at 6:40AM MDT until May 5 at 10:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM...RED FLAG WARNING SUNDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 10 PM FOR MUCH OF THECENTRAL AND WESTERN PORTION OF THE FORECAST AREA DUE TO STRONGWIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY......RED FLAG WARNING MONDAY FROM 10 AM UNTIL 10 PM AREAWIDE DUE TOSTRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY......FIRE WEATHER WATCH TUESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 11 PM AREAWIDE DUETO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY....A weather pattern conducive for large fire growth will commencetoday and continue through Wednesday as a broad trough developsover the western United States keeping the flow over New Mexicodry and windy. The strongest winds and critically low relativehumidity values today will favor the central mountain chain andnortheast highlands westward. Then, relative humidity will plummetover eastern areas as well on Monday. Strong winds on Monday willdevelop first over eastern areas, then linger longest overeastern areas in the evening as well.The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red FlagWarning...which is in effect from noon until 10 PM today, and from10 AM to 10 PM MDT Monday. A Fire Weather Watch has also beenissued for Tuesday from late morning through the evening. TheFire Weather Watch for Monday is no longer in effect.* AREA AND TIMING...The northern and central mountains (Zones 120,122, and 124) below snowpack, and the Rio Grande Valley (Zones121 and 106), today from noon until 10 PM MDT, Monday from 10 AMuntil 10 PM, and Tuesday from 11 AM until 11 PM.* 20 FOOT WINDS...For today, south and southwest 20 to 35 mph withgusts up to 55 mph. On Monday and Tuesday, west 25 to 35 mphwith gusts up to 55 mph.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...7-20 percent, except 5-15 percent onTuesday.* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidlyand will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extremefire behavior will be possible.
