Red Flag Warning issued May 3 at 2:15PM MDT until May 5 at 10:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 10 PM MDT SUNDAY FORMUCH OF NORTHERN, CENTRAL, AND WESTERN NM BELOW SNOWPACK DUE TOSTRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY......FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT SUNDAY AND SUNDAY EVENING FOR THENORTHEAST HIGHLANDS DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY....A weather pattern conducive for large fire growth will developSunday through mid week as a broad trough develops over thewestern United States. The strongest winds are expected Sundayover central and western areas with single digit humidity andabove normal temperatures. Peak south and southwest wind gustscould reach from 45 to 55 mph with the potential for localizedextreme fire weather conditions.The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red FlagWarning...which is in effect from noon to 10 PM MDT Sunday. TheFire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.* AREA AND TIMING...Much of northern, central, and western NMbelow snowpack (Zones 101, 105, 106, 109, 120, 121, 122, and124) from noon until 10 PM MDT. The most critical conditionswill occur during mid to late after noon when winds will bestrongest.* 20 FOOT WINDS...South and southwest 25 to 35 mph with gustsfrom 45 to 55 mph.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...7-15 percent.* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidlyand will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extremefire behavior will be possible. Outdoor burning should not bedone.Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in thefield of this Red Flag Warning.

Flood Advisory issued May 3 at 7:28AM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM...The Flood Advisory continues for the following rivers in NewMexico...Rio Chama Below Chamita affecting Rio Arriba County..Snow melt and increased reservoir releases will cause the riverflows to become high. Expect minor flooding downstream from the dam.* WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues.* WHERE...Rio Chama below Chamita.* WHEN...Until further notice.* IMPACTS...At 5.5 feet, Bankfull stage. Properties immediatelyadjacent to the river upstream of the bridge on SR-74 andespecially near the junction with the Rio Ojo Caliente may seewater encroach onto low lying areas.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 7:00 AM MDT Friday the stage was 5.7 feet.- Bankfull stage is 5.5 feet.- Forecast...The river is expected to remain steady below floodstage at 5.6 feet.- Action stage is 5.5 feet.- Flood stage is 6.0 feet.- http://www.weather.gov/safety/floodCaution is urged when walking near riverbanks.If you are in the advisory area, remain alert to possible floodingor the possibility of the advisory being upgraded to a warning.Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/abq.The next statement will be issued Saturday morning at 1000 AM MDT.
