Winds speedsincreasing during much of the daytime hours, with gusts to 40 mphacross much of southern New Mexico and far west Texas. Conditionsremain dry during the day with relative humidity dropping to 10 to15% mid-afternoon. Fuel conditions are dry due to lack ofrainfall in the past month as well as the precedent droughtstatus. The combination of weather factors and dry grassland,brush, and timber will lead to critical fire danger and risk ofnew fire starts and rapid spread.The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa hasissued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon to 9 PMMDT Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.* WIND...West at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.* HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent.* EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...5 to 6 Critical in South-Central New Mexicoand Far West Texas desert lowlands.* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.Outdoor burning is not recommended.A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now, or will shortly.
