Heat Advisory issued July 2 at 8:47AM CDT until July 4 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Little Rock AR * WHAT...Heat index values up to 109. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, southeast, and western Arkansas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued July 2 at 5:20PM CDT by NWS Little Rock AR At 519 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles west of White River National Wildlife Refuge, moving west at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Almyra... St. Charles... De Witt... Ethel... De Luce... Reydell... Weber... Casscoe... Crocketts Bluff... Tichnor... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
