In north central Iowa, Butler, Franklin, Humboldt and Wright. In northeast Iowa, Black Hawk and Bremer. In northwest Iowa, Pocahontas. In south central Iowa, Clarke, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Union and Warren. In southeast Iowa, Wapello. In southwest Iowa, Adair, Adams and Cass. In west central Iowa, Audubon, Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, Greene, Guthrie and Sac. * WHEN...Through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flood Warning issued July 4 at 6:21AM CDT until July 4 at 6:15PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Iowa, including the following counties, Boone, Jasper, Marshall, Polk and Story. * WHEN...Until 615 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 619 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. As much as 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, with locally higher amounts. - This areal flood warning replaces the flash flood warnings that were previously issued for these counties. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Des Moines, Ames, Ankeny, Newton, Altoona, Boone, Pleasant Hill, Nevada, Carlisle, Bondurant, Story City, Huxley, Saylorville, Madrid, Mitchellville, Colfax, Prairie City, Slater, State Center and Roland. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
