Flood Watch issued June 25 at 11:17PM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Marion, McPherson and Rice. In east central Kansas, Chase. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Verdigris River at Altoona affecting Wilson County. Verdigris River at Coffeyville affecting Montgomery County. Verdigris River at Independence affecting Montgomery and Wilson Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Verdigris River at Independence. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...At 36.0 feet, Some flooding of low lying areas and bottom land can be expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:15 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 12.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 35.5 feet Saturday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Saturday evening. - Flood stage is 30.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
