Piers may be heavily swamped by waves. * WHERE...Mason, Oceana, Muskegon and Ottawa counties. * WHEN...Through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Waves and currents near the south side of south piers will be particularly hazardous. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local authorities on potential beach closures.

Extreme Heat Warning issued June 29 at 2:03PM EDT until July 2 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Grand Rapids MI * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with daily heat index values around 105 degrees expected. * WHERE...Central, south central, southwest, and west central Michigan. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Several days in a row of hot temperatures with little relief from overnight low temperatures can increase heat stress on the human body. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
