Special Weather Statement issued July 20 at 2:18PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC At 217 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Bailey, or 15 miles southwest of Nashville, moving east at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Wilson, Elm City, Bailey, Sharpsburg, Middlesex, Sims, Buckhorn Reservoir, Tar River Reservoir, and New Hope. This includes the following highways... Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 127 and 116. NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 25 and 50. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Flood Advisory issued July 20 at 2:50PM EDT until July 20 at 4:45PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of Johnston, Nash, Wake and Wilson counties in central North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 445 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 248 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
