Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms this afternoon and evening may result in flash flooding. Northeastern Washington County in southeastern Ohio... Tyler County in northern West Virginia... Northeastern Pleasants County in northwestern West Virginia... Northeastern Ritchie County in northwestern West Virginia... * Until 815 PM EDT. * At 415 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 2.5 inches are possible in the warned area in a short period of time. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... St. Marys, Middlebourne, Paden City, Sistersville, Matamoras, Lowell, Macksburg, Friendly, Lower Salem, New Matamoras, Point Lookout, Arvilla, Wick, Mountain, Alma, Lima and Devola. This includes Interstate 77 in Ohio between mile markers 6 and 17. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
