Flood Watch issued July 5 at 10:26PM EDT until July 6 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS State College PA * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Much of central Pennsylvania, along and south of Interstate 80. * WHEN...Through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Very heavy rainfall from thunderstorms occurred over much of the state on Sunday and has made the ground extremely wet. Additional thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected Monday afternoon and evening. South Central Centre County in central Pennsylvania... Northeastern Huntingdon County in central Pennsylvania... * Until 1145 PM EDT. * At 838 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... State College, Bellefonte, Park Forest Village, Boalsburg, Pleasant Gap, Stormstown, Lemont, Zion, Houserville, Pine Grove Mills, Centre Hall, Milesburg, Ramblewood, Julian, Whipple Dam State Park, Rock Springs, Bald Eagle State Park, Unionville, State College Regional Airport and Pennsylvania State University. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
