Flood Watch issued June 28 at 10:18AM EDT until June 28 at 4:00PM EDT by NWS Morristown TN * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of east Tennessee, including the following areas, Anderson, Blount Smoky Mountains, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke Smoky Mountains, Grainger, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, North Sevier, Northwest Blount, Northwest Cocke, Northwest Greene, Roane, Scott TN, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast Greene, Unicoi, Union and Washington TN. * WHEN...Until 4 PM EDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and storms, with locally heavy rainfall, will continue across the counties within the flood watch through mid afternoon. Campbell County in east Tennessee... West Central Claiborne County in east Tennessee... Scott County in east Tennessee... * Until 200 PM EDT. * At 914 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... La Follette, Oneida, Jacksboro, Huntsville, Helenwood, Jellico, Caryville, Winfield, Royal Blue, Elk Valley, Norma, Ketchen, Smokey Junction, Cove Lake State Park, Slick Rock, Indian Mountain State Park, Robbins, Fincastle, Elgin and White Oak. This includes Interstate 75 in Tennessee between mile markers 131 and 161. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1006 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
