Extreme Heat Warning issued June 18 at 8:10PM CDT until June 19 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with peak heat index values ranging between 112-121F degrees is expected. * WHERE...All of Deep South Texas, excluding the island. * WHEN...From noon to 7 PM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While overnight heat indices will not meet Extreme Heat Warning or Heat Advisory criteria, there will be little relief from the heat. Heat indices are expected to remain above 90 degrees tonight. Continue to stay hydrated, use air conditioning when possible (or stay with a friend or family member who has air conditioning), and check on those who may be more vulnerable to the heat. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 or visit http://www.211texas.org for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the heat.

Special Weather Statement issued June 19 at 3:25PM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX At 324 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles east of Randado, or 14 miles south of Hebbronville, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Hebbronville, Guerra, Las Lomitas, Gruy Stadium, Randado, Jim Hogg County Airport, Hebbronville High School, South Fork Estates, and Hebbronville Border Patrol Station. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
