Special Weather Statement issued July 5 at 1:46PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 146 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Pennsboro to 7 miles west of North Bend State Park. Movement was east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Harrisville, Pennsboro, West Union, North Bend State Park, Ellenboro, Cairo, Greenwood, Pike, Nutter Farm, Petroleum, and Highland. This includes Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 17 and 55. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
