Northern Buchanan County in southwestern Virginia... Central McDowell County in southern West Virginia... * Until 800 PM EDT. * At 454 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in much of McDowell County and in northern Buchanan County. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. There were several reports of flash flooding, including along the Tug Fork in Mcdowell County, and along Guesses Fork Rd in Hurley in Buchanan County. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Gary, War, Bradshaw, Iaeger, Jolo, Avondale, Panther, Coalwood, Stacy, Cucumber, Hurley, Roseann and Elbert. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
